It’s been said that copying several comic artist’s styles and then creating a character in that style can improve your own art style. The idea is to see what stylistic features work for you and it can also broaden your set of styles. Having a limited style can work if you only have a certain set of things you need to draw. Being able to utilize a style that fits what you want to work on can make a comic or drawing that looks right. Imagine using my style to do an illustration job for The Hobbit (unless the main character’s name is Blobbo Baggins…).
